In 1980, one of the largest gatherings of Indigenous peoples and their allies took place at Paha Sapa. At this event, ‘Warrior Poet’ delivered his iconic “We The Power” speech. We visit the Indigenous Arts of North America collection at the Denver Art Museum and the Kent Monkman: History is Painted by the Victors exhibition. It’s the first major show in the U.S. for celebrated artist Kent Monkman (Fisher River Cree Nation, born 1965).
