Radio Play
At the Boston Public Library, we embark on a solo trip with Edgar Allan Poe en route to the Moon, escaping civilization and crossing to another planetary body.
The Radio Play will be played by students of the Lau Lapides Company. It’s a four players play. The Dutch artist Erik van Loon will play Edgar Allan Poe’s character Hans Phaall, Lau Lapides herself will tell a narrator the story and …. and ….. will play the people on earth and the people on the moon will be played by the audience. We will show to the Lunarians (= the audience) cue card with lines they have to say during the radio play and after the show all Lunarians will get a copy of the official English – Lunarians Dictionary we recently discovered in the old second hand bookstore Frogpondian in Boston. The orginal English – Lunarians Dictionary was a present from Edgar Allan Poe to his Dutch friend Hans Phaall in order to communicate with the people on the moon. Ack, Ack
All players will also use all kind of household stuff to make noise for the radio play. Hans Phaall for example will walk on his typical Dutch wooden shoes, the narrator will take balloons to get Hans Phaall balloon going up and ….
If you can’t come to the Radio Play – A Voyage To The Moon in the Commonwealth Room of Boston Public Library then you can hear this radio play all over the world via Poetry On Air.
