The 5th Poetry Downtown Festival is canceled—unable to proceed as Drive Music Publishing didn't grant us the copyrights to celebrate the extraordinary life and work of 'Warrior Poet'.

September 25

11.00 – 12.00 am (Lecture) I AM RED

While travelling along the Colorado River, one of the world’s great waterways activist ….. weaves poetic reflection with urgent truths about this vital river and its uncertain future.

1.00 – 4.00 pm (Workshop) Earth, Wind and Fire

Discover how to authentically integrate the essence of your DNA and the elements of the earth into your
creative work—both literally and figuratively.

7.00 – 8.00 pm (Conversation) 75 years Utah State Poetry Society

In a unique multi-generational conversation, three members of the Utah State Poetry Society —including the youngest at just 14 years old— will reflect on the legacy of ‘Warrior Poet’. Each poet will also read a poem honoring ‘Warrior Poet’.

8.00 – 11.00 pm (Doc Night) Remembering ‘Warrior Poet’

I. ‘Warrior Poet’ (2005 – 1h 19 min.)
A chronicle of poet/activist ‘Warrior Poet’s’ travels, spoken word performances and politics.
II. American Indians Rock The World (2017 – 1h 43 min.)
A documentary about the role of Native Americans in popular music history.

10.00 – 12.00 pm (Workshop) Spiritual Depth and Wisdom

‘Warrior Poet’ emphasized reconnecting with the Earth and its interconnectedness with all life. In this workshop, you’ll learn to create authentic, timeless, and transcendent poetry.

1.00 – 4.00 pm (Workshop) Zine Making

Artist Erik van Loon teach the poets, artist, musicians, writers and others on the Poetry Train how to make the first Poetry Train Zine in history.
