LAPD in six different venues
The 2nd LA Poetry Beach Festival expands its festival with six tiny LAPD poetry readings on September 24. Poets from the 2nd Poetry Train (September 21-24), poets selected for the 2nd LA Poetry Beach Festival (September 25). For the first time local poets will present their work at six different venues in Los Angeles.
LAPD
LAPD is the acronym for Los Angeles Poetry Downtown and from 1 till 2 pm and 4 till 5 pm poets will read their work at:
1 till 2 pm
– Union Station (800 N Alameda St, Los Angeles)
– Hotel Erwin – Patio (1697 Pacific Ave)
– Griffith Park Observatory (2800 E Observatory Rd)
4 till 5 pm
– Skid Row History Museum and Archive (250 S Broadway)
– Venice Beach Poets Monument (1530 Ocean Front Walk)
– Chevalier’s Books (133 N Larchmont Blvd)
7 till 10 pm
– Frank ‘n Hank (518 S Western Ave)
Morning-After Party
Los Angeles Poetry Downtown will start with the Morning-After Party (8.00 am – 12.00 pm). This party starts immediately after the Poetry Train,s arrival at Union Station and is only for the poets on the Poetry Train, poets selected for the 2nd LA Poetry Beach Festival and poets from Los Angeles.
Poetry Cab
After the Morning-After Party all poets will travel with three different Poetry Cabs, driven by poets from Los Angeles, to the different participating LAPD venues. The Poetry Cab is a new initiative of LA Poetry Beach Festival founder Erik van Loon and its is goal to bring poetry to the daily life of people in Los Angeles.
MEDD
After the six LAPD readings we will have a Meet Eat Drink and Dance from 7.00 till 10.00 pm at Frank ‘n Hank at 518 S Western Ave, Los Angeles. Frank ‘n Hank is one of the two last still operating pubs from Charles Bukowski’s film Barfly.

Five Days Poetry Festival
LAPD is part of the five days LA Poetry Beach Festival. It starts each year in New York with the Poetry Train. This year the Poetry Train will depart from New York on Wednesday September 21st at 6.45 am and in just 76 hours, i.e. 3 days, it will arrive in poetry paradise Los Angeles. Poets can hop on the train in one of the 64 big cities and small towns in 20 different states between New York and Los Angeles.
